After the introduction of GST 2.0, the compensation cess levied on coal in Chhattisgarh has been abolished. Expressing his views on this important change, State Finance Minister OP Chaudhary said that now Chhattisgarh will get a beneficial position in direct and real terms through the royalty received from coal mining. His statement emphasizes that this decision will prove to be beneficial for the economy of the state and its positive effects will be revealed soon.

Additionally, the Minister also spoke of the need to take stringent and responsible action in the context of curbing GST evasion, so as to limit tax evasion. On the issue, he accused the main opposition parties of causing loss to the state exchequer by their policies or actions. Thus, the Finance Minister’s statement not only focused on improving the GST rates but also highlighted the responsibility of the opposition in maintaining the financial stability of the state. It is clear that the changes in Chhattisgarh’s fiscal policies will provide new possibilities for local businesses and the public.

Finance Minister OP Chaudhary has recently made some important statements in the context of GST 2.0. He said that the loans taken during the Corona period regarding taxes generated from coal were being paid through cess, but now with the merger of cess in GST, the state is expected to get relief in this matter. In terms of coal consumption, the state of Chhattisgarh will get 50% of that, while the remaining 50% will go to the central government, giving the state an important opportunity in development.

Apart from these, the Finance Minister also shared information on cases related to GST evasion. He mentioned that the state government is in the process of taking a serious and strict stand in the cases of tax evasion related to the gutkha industry. He made it clear that our government will not compromise on tax evasion at the organisational level. At the same time, their attitude is cooperative in small matters, which will help in facilitating business activities. He also said that in case any wrongdoing is found against any officer or employee, appropriate action will be taken so that transparency and fairness of the system is maintained.
