Indore, 15 July 2024
Amrittoday / The Honorable Union Minister of Home and Cooperation, Amit Shah, today addressed a program for planting 11 lakh saplings at Indore in Madhya Pradesh in one single day. The program has been taken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A plant for the mother).
Speaking at the program, Shah said that today Indore is going to make a world record by planting as many as 11 lakh saplings in one single day, which is a great feat to achieve.
“When Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the appeal to plant a sapling in one’s mother’s name, no one knew that this campaign would not remain merely a slogan but turn into a movement. Planting a tree means paying respects to one’s mother and also to Mother Earth,” he said.
Shah added that Indore is known across the nation for its cleanliness, taste of food, good governance, cooperation, and participation. But from today onwards, Indore will also be known for this plantation drive. This record will add new glory to the city of the holy soul, Ahalyabai Holkar. Indore became a smart city, a metropolis, a clean city, a hub of modern education, and now Indore will be known as a green city. The credit for this program cannot be given to the administration alone. The administration can only facilitate but cannot make a movement successful. The mayor has associated all the communities by dedicating forests to the great souls from different communities. Saplings of banyan, neem, and peepal have been planted. These plants have a long life. Similarly, saplings with medicinal properties like guava, orange jasmine, Bengal currants, bel, sugar apple, and gooseberry have also been planted. Apart from that, plans have been made for irrigation through three lakes.
“I also want to salute the jawans of the CAPFs. We had decided to plant 5 crore saplings across the nation before May 2024. But they have completed the task of planting 5.21 crore saplings. Now we will plant 1 crore more saplings, which will increase the tally to 6 crore. In the Matsya Purana, it has been mentioned that one pond is equivalent to 10 wells, 10 ponds are equivalent to one lake, 10 lakes are equivalent to one son, and one tree is equivalent to 10 sons,” he said.
“The more we develop, the more we enhance our comforts. But Modi has asked us to wait and think for our future generations. Today, concern over the environment is not only worrying our nation but also the entire world. Carbon dioxide and monoxide have affected the ozone layer. Big holes have been found in the ozone layer, which has increased the temperature of the earth. The campaign to plant trees initiated by Modi is the right answer to it,” he said.
“I want to congratulate the people of Madhya Pradesh because the state has been playing the role of Bharat’s lungs. There are very few states with 31% forest cover. Madhya Pradesh also contributes 12% of the nation’s forest cover. This is the reason why different kinds of tourism have developed in Madhya Pradesh. Here there are six tiger reserves, 11 national parks, and 24 sanctuaries. The prime minister has also introduced cheetahs here. Modi raised the slogan one earth, one family, one future at the G20 Summit. Modi has also taken the initiative of the global bio-fuel alliance. As a result, the United Nations has honored him with the award of Champion of the Earth. Modi has also proposed a green credit program in QUAD,” he said.
“We have also taken several initiatives at the national level. We have permitted ethanol blending, and by 2025 we will have 20% ethanol in petrol and diesel. More than 12 refineries have been set up to produce biofuel. We have taken part in the Green Hydrogen Mission with Rs. 30,000 crore. The Gobardhan Scheme and the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change have also been initiated. When Modi was the chief minister, the Gujarat government became the first to set up an environment department,” he added.
“I have come for the first time to Madhya Pradesh after the election, and I would like to bow to you all because Madhya Pradesh is one of the states that can make the claim of contributing profusely to making Modi the prime minister for the third time. It has given all 29 seats to Modi . We all know that because of Modi ’s re-election, the nation will become secure, prosperous, modern, and the foremost one in the world. After the BJP won in Madhya Pradesh, a lot of development work has been initiated in Madhya Pradesh, covering sectors like infrastructure, education, and economic stability. Recently, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav passed a budget of Rs. 3.65 lakh crore. This is the biggest budget passed until now. This budget also strikes a proper balance between development and farmers,” he said.
Shah also advised, “Take care of the saplings like a child until they grow big, and later, they will care for you like a mother.”
