Raises health awareness, distributes 23,180 blood test cards

Raipur 09 March 2024// In the Rajim Kumbh Kalp, a large-scale free blood testing camp named “Raktveer” was organized through the collaborative efforts of the Dr Priyanka Bissa Vyas Team, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Magarlod Community Health Center, and Chhattisgarh Nursing College.

During the Virat Sant Samagam, the “Raktveer” campaign achieved a remarkable feat by distributing blood test cards to 23,180 individuals within a mere span of five days. These cards facilitated comprehensive health checks including parameters such as height, weight, blood pressure, sugar levels, blood group, hemoglobin, sickling, and HIV. Sonal Sharma, the representative of the Golden Book of World Records, formally proclaimed the achievement of a new world record following a thorough check.

The participants received commendations from dignitaries including the wife of Chief Minister Smt. Kaushalya Sai, Religious Affairs Minister  Brijmohan Agrawal, and Gariaband MLA  Rohit Sahu. Dr Sharda Thakur, BMO of the Magarlod Health Department, stated that 65 per cent of the participants were unaware of their blood pressure and sugar levels before the testing, but through the Raktveer campaign, health information reached thousands of people.

Arpit Tiwari, District Officer of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Bharvi Vaishnav, Administrative Officer of Chhattisgarh Nursing College, and Principal  Karsh played active roles in motivating and supporting the volunteers throughout the event.

Dr. Priyanka Bissa Vyas, honoured by the President, stated that controlling blood pressure, sugar, and BMI are crucial for maintaining good health. To raise awareness among the people, thorough checks were conducted throughout the entire fairground, which proved to be the most challenging part of the campaign. The collaborative initiative saw significant contributions from 195 volunteers and associates, including individuals like Ajay Boral, Ankita Tandon, Aishwarya, Srishti, Vinay, Ashi, Muskan, and the lab team comprising Kishore Devangan, Santosh, Tarun, Gargishankar Sen, Ritesh, Sanjay, and Bhuvan.

Prior to this milestone, in 2018, the campaign introduced India’s first blood test card, benefiting 11,551 individuals after comprehensive blood testing. This initiative garnered international acclaim with people from Italy and France undergoing testing procedures during Rajim Kumbh Kalp 2024.
