Raipur, 28 June 2024
AmritToday. For effective prevention of mosquito-borne diseases in the capital this year, Raipur Municipal Corporation’s Health Department is gearing up across all 70 wards. Commissioner Abinash Mishra directed officials of the Municipal Corporation’s Health Department to initiate measures aimed at controlling and preventing mosquito-borne diseases, keeping public health and safety in focus.
Formation of a Special Team
This monsoon season, Raipur Municipal Corporation has prepared to provide relief to the general public from mosquito-borne diseases with the assistance of specialists. A dedicated team of experts has been formed for this campaign. The campaign will include extensive anti-larvae treatments and fogging operations, addressing citizens’ complaints promptly, and gathering feedback on mosquito control and disease prevention campaigns. These activities will be conducted from a designated control room as per the directives of the Municipal Commissioner.
Public Awareness Campaign
Information regarding the causes, symptoms, and simple prevention methods of mosquito-borne diseases will be disseminated among residents through public announcements, pamphlets, and social media in neighbourhoods, colonies, and streets. Efforts will be made to raise awareness about health among citizens. Residents of urban areas will be urged not to dispose of garbage in drains, gutters, ponds, wells, streets, or public places. Citizens will be educated to segregate dry and wet waste in separate bins and ensure regular disposal by sanitation workers. Additionally, the Health Department of the Municipal Corporation has appealed for attention to cleanliness around homes and the use of mosquito repellents before and during the monsoon, as well as the consumption of fresh, hot, and hygienic food.
